  • Meerbusch

I have been a captain at Aerologic since 2010 and previously flew for LTU and Emirates. I also worked as a consultant for Air Asia and as a flight operations manager and accountable manager in business aviation. During this time, I was also able to get to know the strategic and economic perspective of our profession - experience that helps me a lot on the Works Council.

For nearly two years, I have had the honor of serving as your works council chairman. Together with you and my colleagues on the council, I’ve been able to initiate and negotiate important matters, address concerns, and stand up for your interests.

A key priority for me has always been maintaining an open, transparent, and trustworthy dialogue with both employees and management.

With your continued support, I’m committed to carrying on this work—advocating for fair working conditions, strong career prospects - especially for our young and dedicated pilots - and the sustainable development of our company.

I have been an FO at our company for four years and recently became a member of our works council. Before that I worked at NIKI and later at Laudamotion - experiences that have shown me how important a safe workplace and fair treatment are for all of us.

As a member of the works council, I want to play an active role in further improving our working conditions. Negotiating with a sense of proportion, communicating at eye level - that's my strength. You are welcome to view this website as a small sample of my work.

I see my professional prospects with you in the cockpit and I want to take responsibility for our common future. Not just to preserve what already exists, but to actively shape it: A workplace that is safe, fair and fun.

  • Master of Law
  • Commander
  • 47 Years
  • Wien

I’ve been a captain at Aerologic for 16 years, following ten years as a first officer at Lauda Air and Austrian Airlines.

Alongside my flying career, I studied law and earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.). Professionally, I also worked at Lufthansa Corporate Finance and in an investment bank in Vienna.

On the works council, I aim to put this experience to good use—especially when it comes to legal matters: labor law, collective agreements, co-determination, transfers, dismissal protection, or part-time work models—these all affect us directly.

I stand for clear communication, legal clarity, and a strong, consistent defense of our employee rights. For me, fairness isn’t just an ideal—it’s the foundation of a healthy working environment.

Sebastian Hackl

  • Hohenkammer

I’ve been with Aerologic for almost five years, after previous roles at Germania and briefly at Level. As both a pilot and a firefighter, I’ve learned to take responsibility, work as part of a team, and communicate clearly and openly. These are the values I want to bring to the works council.

It’s important to me to represent your interests honestly, directly, and with full commitment. I stand for plain speaking, transparency, and a solution-oriented approach to collaboration.

Together, we can make a real difference—and that’s what I’m here to work for.

Your Questions, Our Answers

What's on your agenda?
Frank Titze

We want to immediately initiate new negotiations regarding the works agreement on duty rosters. We see an urgent need for action and significant potential for improvement in this area.

We also aim to enter into negotiations without delay on topics such as flight requests, hotel standards, jumpseating, catering, and duty travel.

Another pressing task will be to improve the communication of the works council.

There are also other colleagues standing for election, aren’t there?
Sebastian Hackl

Yes, and we're very pleased about that! It shows a strong interest in the work of the works council and sends an important message to our employer: that many of us truly care about co-determination.

Aren’t you afraid that the works council might jeopardize our jobs?
Ingo Fuchs

No, on the contrary! Employee co-determination ensures secure jobs in the long run. There are countless examples of successful companies proving this. A strong works council manages to balance the interests of the employer and those of us employees. We stand for a strong spirit of cooperation!

Why don’t you mention collective bargaining agreements?
Falk Gardik-Karda

The works council monitors compliance with collective bargaining agreements. These agreements are negotiated by the union, represented by the bargaining committee. Members of the works council are not automatically members of the bargaining committee, and vice versa.

For example, when it comes to work scheduling, it quickly becomes clear that collective bargaining agreements and company agreements negotiated by the works council with management are often closely intertwined. The framework conditions are governed by the collective agreement, while company agreements regulate the concrete implementation.

What is your position on having two separate works councils?
Frank Titze

We are in favor! Our team on the ground shares common goals, but the conditions of our work are very different. Concrete examples of this are our collective agreements and the EASA-FTL.

This leads to very different requirements and expectations for the works council. So far, in our opinion, the needs of the ground team have been somewhat neglected. Both ground staff and cockpit crew benefit equally from having their respective works councils fully focused on their specific concerns.

Contact

The election has proven to be a great opportunity for us to engage in conversations with many colleagues. We pursue clear goals – at the same time, it is the duty of a works council to represent the interests of the entire workforce. Therefore, we are grateful for every message!

Information about the election

How can I cast my vote?
Sebastian Hackl

The election committee has decided to hold a postal vote and will send you voting documents to your home. On the ballot paper you find us under List 2: Gemeinsam abheben - Zukunft gestalten. Complete the ballot as quickly as possible, as some mailings unfortunately take longer. The votes will be counted on June 24.

Why is there a new election?
Ingo Fuchs

In short, because our works council was recently understaffed. This was partly due to resignations from the committee and partly due to works council members leaving the company. The vacant seats were filled in order from the candidate list of the last election in 2022. However, by March, there were no more substitutes available.

How does the election process work?
Falk Gardik-Karda

After the current works council fell below the required number in March, the members decided to elect two separate works councils, for pilots (BR-Luft) and ground staff (BR-Boden). Subsequently, the respective election committees were appointed, which are now organizing the new elections.

Interested candidates have formed election proposals, also called lists. Our list is named List 2: Gemeinsam abheben - Zukunft gestalten. These lists are supported either by a union represented in the company (Verdi or VC) or by at least 38 eligible voters signing in support.

You now have the opportunity to give your vote to one of these lists. The more votes a list receives, the more seats it will fill in the new works council. Candidates who do not directly enter the council serve as substitute members.

What changes with the election?
Frank Titze

Besides the newly elected works councils, there is a fundamental change: We will elect a works council specifically for flight operations (BR-Luft). Our ground staff team will elect their own separate works council. The BR-Luft will have 13 members, just like the previous council, who can fully focus on our concerns. In addition, there will be members of the ground staff works council (BR-Boden). Our two future councils will coordinate together within a joint works council.

Is there going to be another election next year already?
Ingo Fuchs

No, even though the regular works council elections will take place again in 2026, we will not be affected by that. The law provides an exception for works councils that have only recently taken office. Our new Flight Operations works council is expected to remain in office until 2030.
